Communication Strategy

As a maker, I’m drawn to sustainable and ethical business practices that get the job done. As a brand advocate, I passionately promote projects that make the world a better place to work and live. Editorial calendars, status updates, content development, market research, project management, web production, HTML, CSS, SEO, these are just a few of my favorite things. I also make really good analogies, and that’s important when you’re dealing with new ideas & ways of working.

Think of me as your
Tech-Friendly Fairy Godmother

Equal parts tough love & glittery fairy dust, I’m here to educate, encourage, and offer the occasional reality check when necessary. My experience with arts, culture, software and lifestyle organizations has provided me with the skills necessary to help my clients craft communication strategies that work for them, not the other way around.

Craft a Plan

I do the research so you don’t have too; by identifying which services will help you connect with your audience, I create a custom communication strategy across multiple platforms so that you can get comfortable using them at your own pace.

It also means that you don’t waste time trying to figure out everything at once, ensuring that you get the best experience from your successful online presence.

Make Some Noise

You can’t be a maker without getting your hands a little dirty and making friends along the way. Through extensive market research I identify where your audiences are already active online, helping you to become a respectful, active member of the community.

When you engage with your customer base, you create brand advocates, and when you do it authentically, that’s advertising money just can’t buy. There’s a higher expectation of how brands exist online & and in the world at large; are you being heard? Let’s make some noise

I’m a Communication Maker

I’ve worked in Philadelphia’s Arts, Culture, and Social Change communities for nearly 10 years as an active member of the region’s growing tech movement. I believe strongly in the power and strength of people coming together for the greater good, and frequently contribute to collaborations focused on community generated change.

Tactical Urbanism
Short-term Action // Long-term Change.

Initially bummed that I was unable to attend the event in person, I quickly discovered that a vibrant online dialogue was taking place, as attendees live tweeted the event and champions of the movement chimed in from all over the country. A rich online experience was created as a direct result of the ideas being articulated during the meetup. Organized by The Street Plans Collaborative, Change Administration, Philly Works and Next American City to discuss DIY guerrilla urbanism at its finest ...more

Frank Abagnale SXSW 2012

Frank is undeniably easy to listen to, effortlessly holding an overflowing room in rapt attention for the better part of an hour. Speaking in a decisive, even tone, I found myself mesmerized not only in his story but in the gracious way in which he told it with strikingly clear recollection and distinct detail, as if it had only just happened the other day. ...more

WOOHOO!

Last week, while getting ready for my first foray to SXSW Interactive, I found the above image of suffragettes party-ing it up after being released from jail in 1909. I immediately sent it to some of the lovely ladies from the Indy Hall crew who I’ll be bunking with for the conference, with the caption: "One week from now, THIS will be us! ...more

You Are What You Read.

A few weeks ago, I went on a massively liberating unsubscribe-spree, I made the hard-line decision that if I could get the news somewhere else, it had no place taking up space in my inbox... subscribing instead to news sources that cover stories I want to find on purpose, rather than by happenstance. ...more
