TEDxPhilly

A unique, one-day multi-disciplinary conference, which examines the vast interpretations of the theme: The City.

“The City” November 8, 2011 at Temple Performing Arts Center
“Right Here, Right Now” November 18, 2010 at the Kimmel Center.

Engaging speakers, impassioned performers, all star participants and awe-inspiring exhibitors will converge to deconstruct, decipher and explore some of the greatest challenges, innovations, concepts and realities that shape and are shaped by the city and its inhabitants.

My TEDxPhily Story:
In 2010, I was involved in an Attendee, Volunteer, & Community Advocate capacity. But really, I spent most of the day in awe at how the amazing program came together so beautifully. In 2011, I am looking forward to giving back to the community by working on communication strategy leading up to the event as well as volunteering on the big day!

When I think back to my first TEDx expereince, I remember being exhausted and rejuvenated at the same time. I remember being inspired by the people around me – from organizers to attendees, and especially volunteers. I remember that the idea of changing the world didn’t seem quite so impossible that day, and that the reality of change in Philadelphia is coming to life all around us. I experienced the infamous “TEDCrash” first-hand and required several days of recovery during which I processed all that had happened throughout the TED experience. I think I might still be processing the wealth of information and ideas I received that day, and I know for sure our creative and cultural landscape continues to experience the after-effects.

A rich online experience was created as a direct result of the ideas being articulated during the meetup. Organized by The Street Plans Collaborative, Change Administration, Philly Works and Next American City to discuss DIY guerrilla urbanism at its finest
